25 Best PC Games of All Time

If we look back on the last 10 years, we see the demonstration that the PC is the most diverse gaming platform ever created. This platform does not only have the most games but the greatest variety of game types available. Choosing our 25 best and most memorable experiences of that time has been a challenge, but we have managed to create a list that could be valid for the last decade.

The question we are trying to answer is “What have been the best pc games” And we have included both games that were amazing in their day and recommendations today. If you are wondering why are not games like Half-Life 2, System Shock 2, Quake III: Arena, StarCraft, TIE Fighter, or X-COM: UFO Defense, there you have the reasons. There are lots of games for PC that did not get to enter the list, but they stayed close … And for those are the comments at the bottom of the page. Leave your opinion about it!

25. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain pc game

It took more than a decade to get a new Metal Gear to reach PC, but the series returned in top PC games

. Metal Gear Solid 5 is an excellent stealth action game with missions that can be solved in dozens of different ways. Its open world is the field of military operations between operations and, in addition, who does not like to tie soldiers to hot air balloons?

24. Rainbow Six Siege

Rainbow Six Siege game on pc

Over the past two years, Rainbow Six Siege has evolved, becoming deeper and more interesting as an FPS. In addition to doubling the number of operators and maps, Siege has changed its systems and improved its performance. He has even added a PvE mode to the Left 4 Dead style that could be a game in itself. It’s one of the best available FPS, and a great example of how to keep a game alive for years.

23. The Witness

The Witness is one of the top PC games ever designed. Use the power of mystery to invite you to continue advancing, giving you from the beginning tools (but not knowledge) to finish the game in just a few minutes. The design of puzzles makes solving them fun while adding more and more depth layers to the simple base from which the proposal departs. The way in which The Witness encourages you to move forward is exemplary, in the same way, that your open world does not punish you for your mistakes, but quite the opposite, since they are part of learning.

22. Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley makes the mundane look wonderful. It does not reinvent the wheel, but it manages to distill the essence that has characterized Harvest Moon to offer a simple, accessible and very addictive game. Calm and calm, Stardew celebrates the fun in seeing the fruits of your garden grow. A world of opportunity beyond the first moments, in which we are guided, but which then allows us to experiment, change our mind, and play as we please. Your choices will have consequences, but learning what works and what does not, adjusting the management and discovering more efficient ways to spend your days is part of the fun.

21. Undertale

Undertale is a delightful exercise in inventiveness that far exceeded expectations. He knows that you are playing a role-playing game and he gives it to you each turn, remembering your saving habits, following your history decisions and adjusting to remind you that your actions have unexpected consequences. All this is wrapped in an exciting story that supports a message: all the decisions you make matter, not only to you but to the people around you. He is subversive, occasionally confused, melancholic reusable and a member more than worthy of the fraternity of best PC games.

20. FTL: Faster Than Light

There is no game that better simulates the fact of being in command of a spaceship than FTL: Faster Than Light. It is a game in which you should not expect to survive – in fact, you will be eliminated by a much more powerful ship, or you will end up being robbed by a horde of giant killer insects. It is even possible that your ventilation system is hacked and your entire crew drowned. But FTL is not going to win – it’s a story generator, where you end up talking about when you got a specific weapon, the one that split enemies in two while you remained undetected, for example. His tactical combat does not get old, with a lot of loot and random events that make the game unpredictable, and with unlockable ships that force you to change strategy. And maybe, from time to time, you win.

19. Devil 3: Reaper of Souls

Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls is the demonstration of Blizzard’s commitment to quality. The problems that Diablo 3 had in its launch no longer exist. There have been lots of improvements and redesigns, with many expansions that have made this game the best isometric action RPG on any platform. The frequent fall of legendary objects forces you to re-evaluate your choices and you will be driven to try all the characters, with temporary events that continue to grow the content. With hundreds of possible character configurations to try, Diablo 3 is still one of the most interesting games for PC for those who enjoy experimenting and for dungeons.

18. Fortnite Battle Royale

Fortnite Battle Royale mode has exploded into popularity, becoming a global phenomenon. It is free and its relatively simple shooting mechanics make it much more accessible than the competition in the genre. That does not mean it’s easy since construction tools raise skill levels to very high levels.

17. Sid Meier’s Civilization V

Civilization VI has lots of good ideas – especially regarding the construction of cities. But Civ 5 is still the king of the 4X strategy games for PC. Civilization V takes the depth that makes incredible 4X games and adds a simplicity that allows everyone to get their game system. Even if you have played previous games, your maps and your approach to combat and unit management make it unique and new. Especially when the improvements of the Change the World expansion are added, the series is completely overturned to offer its best side. Split games can last up to six hours, but with a lot of variation between nations and routes that will lead you to victory, and you will not mind trying again and again.

16. World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft is already a living classic that, in addition, is able to reinvent itself by changing old and new game systems in a world populated by millions of players who continue to spend thousands of hours exploring. Legion, its most recent expansion, brings us back to what was World of Warcraft focusing on the world, the dungeons and the PvP, and its next expansion, titled Battle for Azeroth, is just around the corner.

15. Fallout: New Vegas

Like Fallout 3 before, Fallout: New Vegas took us to a post-nuclear America. However, it soon becomes something more thanks to its fantastic narrative and the touch of some of the minds after Fallout 1 and 2. It is not limited to touch up mechanics, such as real-time combat and crafting. Several factions with depth, and in conflict over the Republic of New California, the Legion of Caesar and the mysterious Mr. House are anything but a clear choice between good and evil. That we have to decide the result makes it even better. Again, the work of the community in the mods makes the PC version of New Vegas the definitive one.

14. Divinity: Original Sin 2

Divinity: Original Sin 2 turns out to be one of the best RPGs of all time. A part of what makes the old cRPGs and mechanical and modern design more special, making you feel old and new at the same time. The sequel has improved what its predecessor did well, with incredible combat, deeper systems and, at the same time, simplifies and improves what in that title failed – without forgetting its brutal AI. In addition, there is a lot of game to play, with six different character backgrounds, more personalization and more than 74,000 lines of dialogue, this RPG is more than enough to keep you entertained for a long time.

13. Spelunky

It is a classic that is a product of the 8-bit era and that depends on its extraordinary design. So good is that it will end up being considered one of the great classics of the platforms. On rare occasions, we have seen that the procedural generation of levels can give so much of itself. Each phase takes you to the limit, in a race against time and death that requires the player to experience the limit between risk and reward. Welcome to a world full of traps, falls, and secrets, with controls and possibilities as simple as understandable, but that will cost you to dominate for months of obsessive dedication.

12. XCOM 2

XCOM 2 takes a step beyond the tactical combat of XCOM: Enemy Unknown and its expansion War of the Chosen even improved it. It has the same tension to go from being an inferior opponent to a powerful war machine, with the constant threat of the permanent death of your soldiers before each decision. It also makes us defend the earth from a position of inferiority, which has to free the planet from alien occupation, making everything much more desperate. This sequel is bigger, deeper and adds complexity in the form of new classes of soldiers, equipment, and aliens, but without forgetting the replayability. The procedurally generated maps will make you return to the game again and again, with random events on the strategic map, orders and lots of mods.

11. Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect 2 got the perfect balance between all the elements we like in this series, and the following deliveries have not managed to match it. There has not been another team like the one that comes together in the second Normandy, with each member having their own history and problems to solve. It is a story that begins with the death of the protagonist, but that takes us to the limit almost every moment from there – even putting the lives of the crew members in danger if you do not make the right decisions.

10. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The designers often illustrate the freedom they give us in the games for PC by telling us that if we see a mountain in the distance, we can travel there. It is the case of Skyrim, the concept that defines the design. It is a truly massive world. And most importantly, it is the most populated, with lots of dungeons, cities, and mountains with passages to find, remnants of hidden lore, ethnic and political frenzies and much more. The feeling of freedom extends to almost every aspect of the design, and it is particularly satisfying to create your character – level up your skills, choose the perks, activate the screams and equip equipment. It is also worth noting that Skyrim on PC has even more life than consoles thanks to the mods of the community, which have been surprising us for years … And also, it has dragons.

9. Grand Theft Auto 5

Grand Theft Auto 5 stands out for its detailed map that raised the level of open-world games. Not only is it gigantic, but it is full of content – not only will we drive and shoot like the three protagonists of the story, but there are lots of secondary activities, and lots of secrets to discover in a city that is also beautiful. With so much to do, explore and play, both in single player mode, multiplayer mode and mods and creative tools, it is a wonderful proposition on many levels.

8. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

The reason why Counter-Strike has been so popular for so long: it’s one of the most technical first-person action games out there, with a heavy reliance on team dynamics, game feel, and skill. His challenge and depths not only make him one of the toughest competitive shooters, but he has managed to make serious players and novices interested. The search for competitive games and the ranking system allows you to track your progress and skill, while the more casual modes allow you to practice. Its integration with Steam Workshop also allows a quick installation of training maps. Although Counter-Strike can be intimidating at first, those with patience and dedication to learning the particularities of this shooter will discover a gem.

7. League of Legends

Despite their relative youth, eSports are gaining public by leaps and bounds, and the spearhead of the movement is League of Legends. When the only great MOBA was Defense of the Ancients, League took the formula and retouched it, making more accessible a game that also offered great depth for those who want to discover it. Its 132 heroes are fun, varied and complicated to master, and can be further customized with Rune and Master systems. Its developers, Riot Games, are also pioneers in competitive gaming, hiring teams to play seasons and win the post in the most exciting qualifiers, as we see in traditional sports. In 20 years we will see documentaries that say that with League of Legends eSports started.

6. Dota 2

MOBAs have earned a reputation as dense and difficult to learn, but very strategic for those who invest time. If you spend some time with Dota 2 you will understand why. Although all the games are developed on a single map, and there is only one objective, its more than 100 characters and the thousands of combinations of possible objects make each round unique. And as every second matter the games for PC are always exciting, even if they seem slow. Are you farmland gold? Are you looking for the enemy? Crossing the map to help a partner? Its complexity scares the players, but those who stay will find one of the most strategic games for PC of recent times.

5. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has become one of the best pc games, becoming the first game that breaks the barrier of three million concurrent players on Steam. This battle royale mixes frantic shootings with permanent death and long and tense preparation sections while we search for supplies. Death is inevitable and winning is rare, but the series of exciting moments and memorable stories during each game make you hook up more and more games. PUBG is more fun in groups of two or four, where you can try different playing styles with the people you are with.

4. Overwatch

With a memorable selection of characters, meticulously balanced, Overwatch is an action game in the middle between adrenaline and debauchery and a strategic multiplayer experience. You may not have the most comprehensive list of maps and modes, but your offer grows with each season’s event, offering almost infinite possibilities of coordinating with other players. The commitment to the community and quality of Blizzard should make Overwatch a game to revisit for years to come.

3. Minecraft

Minecraft is the top PC games to play with blocks. It is excellent for many reasons, but the most important is that it makes you feel like a child discovering the world. This mountain in the distance? You can dig in it. You can make your house inside and cover it with lava so that it is scary and mole. And then you can dig deeper into the ground to discover treasures and fight with monsters. Some players have recreated spaceships, and even their worlds have been printed in 3D. Minecraft can be played as you want, but there are enough game systems and rules to structure your time in a “campaign” if that is what you are looking for. Few games for PC have reached the whole world like Minecraft, and few will do so in the future.

2. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The deep and long RPGs are typical of PC, and few have gone as far as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has done it. Its gigantic open world areas impress, both in size and density. They are populated by great monsters, interesting mysteries and personal stories to discover. It is also one of the most incredible productions in the history of the game, with a memorable narrative and dialogues, an extraordinary soundtrack and graphics that are a technical and artistic achievement.

1. Portal 2

Valve is a developer that takes time to make their games, and that makes their titles are valid at any time. Portal 2 – which improved what was seen in its predecessor – is still as smart and unique as it was in 2011. We hope it remains so until I can not continue on this list, in 2022, and have to choose another game for your position. We say this because in the past decade nothing has done as much, or as well as Portal 2. No game has approached him in terms of level design, personality, or variety in their puzzles. It also has a cooperative campaign that improves most of the multiplayer experiences with friends.

We are a team of Gamers behind the BestGamesMag and we love to provide you the best list in term of gaming so you can always enjoy Best Games.
